New Quick Test Identifies Pre-Diabetes

A new study by US researchers suggests that the A1c blood test, which has been used for diabetic patients for years, also easily identifies pre-diabetics.
Fasting tests, the ones used before to identify pre-diabetes, were not as handy as one had to come to the doctor´s office twice with an empty stomach. The A1c test does not require a person to return for additional testing.
"If you are pre-diabetic, losing as little as 10 to 15 pounds through diet and exercise can cut in half your chances of getting diabetes, greatly improving your health and lowering your need for health care," Dr. Ackermann explains.
